The Leflore County boys basketball team claimed its 15th win in a row with a 55-21 victory over visiting Simmons High School Tuesday night.
Jeremy Gilbert scored 22 points to lead the Tigers.
Terrance Williams had eight, and Edmond Ward, Emoni Journey and Tavarus Addison tacked on six each.

The Leflore County boys basketball team picked up a 52-38 win at West Bolivar High School Friday night in Rosedale.
The Tigers led 13-10 after one, 25-20 at the half and 43-25 after the third frame.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
