Nestled in the bottom left corner of the offensive side of the spreadsheet, junior quarterback Keytaon Thompson’s name made a startling return to the list as the co-No. 2 signal caller alongside freshman Garrett Shrader.

Mississippi State started the 2019 football season without seven players who were suspended for a violation of team rules on Saturday.

Redshirt freshman offensive tackle Kwatrivous Johnson of Greenwood was one of the players who didn’t make the trip to New Orleans. His friends and teammates call him by his nickname, “Dolla Bill.”

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
