Starkville’s favorite son returned home Tuesday to put on a one-day youth camp at Mississippi State, and folks showed up in bunches to take part.

To say Mississippi State overachieved this season would be an understatement.

Not much was expected from the Bulldogs in Andy Cannizaro’s first season as a head coach.

MSU’s SEC championship roster from last year was decimated by the pro baseball draft and injuries on the pitching staff along with the offseason coaching change.

The Greenwood Commonwealth’s 2014 player of the year will play football this fall for the Statesmen of Delta State after two years at Mississippi Valley State.
