Taking advantage of three first-quarter turnovers, MRA, the No. 2-ranked AAAA team in the state, rolled to a quick 21-0 lead and cruised to a 40-6 victory Friday night at Bill Davis Field.

Mustangs hope to upend MRA

Things don’t get any easier in Week 2 for the young Pillow Academy Mustangs.

After opening up with a 41-14 loss to defending State AAA champion Indianola Academy, Pillow hosts the second-ranked AAAA team in the state in Madison-Ridgeland Academy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Bill Davis Field.

Flat second half spells disaster

INDIANOLA — Both teams had to deal with it, but only one appeared to take it in stride.

Following a 45-minute lightening delay at halftime, Indianola Academy came out ready to play — scoring on its first possession and never looked back en route to a 41-14 win over Pillow Academy here Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
