Former ‘C-L’ publisher dies at 83

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Kenneth W. Andrews, who was publisher of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson when the newspaper won a Pulitzer Prize in 1983, has died at the age of 83 in Pensacola, Fla.

Andrews died Sunday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service was held Monday in Pensacola.

7th case of West Nile reported

JACKSON — The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting a seventh human case of West Nile virus for 2013.

The case was reported in Lincoln County. Mississippi has recorded one death this year.

So far this year, cases have been reported in Forrest (2), Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Montgomery and Wayne counties.
