PENSACOLA, Fla. — Kenneth W. Andrews, who was publisher of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson when the newspaper won a Pulitzer Prize in 1983, has died at the age of 83 in Pensacola, Fla.
Andrews died Sunday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service was held Monday in Pensacola.
Andrews, a Pensacola native, spent 29 years in the newspaper industry.
The Clarion-Ledger won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of problems and reform in the Mississippi education system.
Andrews began and ended his news career at the Pensacola News Journal, starting as a credit manager in 1963 before traveling Louisiana and Mississippi and returning to the PNJ as president and publisher in 1988.
He retired from the News Journal in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie, and two sons.
