Court papers show John Harberson of Carriere pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Gulfport.

Committee approves judicial nomination

JACKSON — The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has ap-proved the nomination of Jackson attorney Debra Brown in a federal judgeship in north Mississippi.

The committee met Thursday in Washington. The nomination now goes to the full Senate for confirmation.

Bryant: Focus will be on safety

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — After focusing on education and job creation during his first two years in office, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he will concentrate on public safety in 2014.
