Qualifying time short for area candidates

Challengers have entered races for Leflore County tax collector and Southern District constable, and Greenwood's city judge will contend for a Justice Court position as the qualifying deadline for 2003 county elections nears.

With one day left to qualify, 11 incumbents are unchallenged in their bid for re-election.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
