The best season of all

I love all the seasons of the year, especially the month of April in the spring and October in the fall. But of the “times” of the year, Christmastime is my favorite. To me, it really is “the most wonderful time of the year.” It’s also a time I like to reflect on the past year and my many Christmases past.

Only God can change hearts

With the assassination (i.e. murder) of Charlie Kirk, we, as a nation were violated once again. It’s left a sickening feeling in my heart, the same way the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did years ago.

Judges are too powerful

The latest row between federal judges and President Trump should be sufficient proof that nobody, no one person, and especially no judge, should be appointed for life, such as our federal and U.S. Supreme Court justices are. Because they are, those judges effectively have more power than the president.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
