DSA at jamboree Friday

Delta Streets Academy will participate in a jamboree Friday at Deer Creek School as the 8-man football league approaches.
The Lions will play Benton Academy at 7 p.m. and Humphreys Academy at 7:30 p.m. in two scrimmage games.
Delta Streets will kick off its 2025 season on Aug. 22 against Prairie View Academy at Pillow’s field.

Leflore opens with 3-0 win

The Leflore County girls volleyball team opened its season Monday with a 3-0 victory over visiting Yazoo City High School.
The Lady Tigers won the sets 25-16, 25-23 and 25-9.
Leflore, which played at Humphreys County Tuesday, hosts Water Valley Thursday.

Pillow cross-country competes in meet

The Pillow Academy cross-country team competed in the Early Bird 2-miler at Neely Farm in Magee Monday.
For Pillow’s girls, Emma Beckwith was 10th overall in 13:59.90. Mary Laine Dyksterhouse came in 25th in 15:14.20, and McKenzie Edwards was 38th in 16:07.90.

The Pillow Academy girls fastpitch softball team moved back into the win column after a Friday night loss to Leake Academy with an 8-0 victory over visiting Deer Creek School Monday night at Robertson Field.
