Pillow Academy senior Sarah Kathryn Smith (7) sets the ball for a teammate during Pillow’s 3-0 win Thursday over Starkville. The Lady Mustangs won the sets 25-14, 25-8 and 25-18. Pillow dropped a 3-2 decision to Simpson Academy Tuesday in Mendenhall. Pillow won the first set 25-17, but Simpson won the second set 25-12. The Lady Mustangs won the third set 25-17, and the Lady Cougars took the next two sets by scores of 25-22 and 15-10. Pillow is 9-11 overall and 3-3 in District 1-4A. The Lady Mustangs play host to Winston Academy Tuesday night.

Pillow's Hodges, Carroll All-Stars

Pillow Academy girls fastpitch players Izzy Hodges and Madeline Carroll will be playing a little extra softball as both were selected to MAIS all-star games. Hodges, a senior, will represent Pillow at the MAIS 3A/4A fastpitch all-star game on Wednesday. The contest begins at 4:15 p.m. at Jackson Prep.

Trojans fall to Holmes

The Mississippi Delta Community College football team dropped a 47-0 decision to Holmes Community College Thursday night in Moorhead.
The Trojans, who fall to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the MACCC North Division, only had 95 yards of total offense. Holmes, which had 528 yards of offense, moves to 3-3 and 3-0 in the North.

Young Mustangs capture a district title by beating Bayou

It wasn’t all bad news on the gridiron at Pillow Academy this week.
On the eve of Friday’s varsity loss to Heritage, the junior Mustangs flexed on rival Bayou Academy to the tune of 42-6 as they dominated from start to finish to claim a conference championship and finish at 6-1.
