Pillow Academy’s Anna Grace Rice limited District 1-5A foe Starkville to four hits as the Lady Mustangs picked up an 11-0 win over the Lady Volunteers Monday at Robertson Field.
Pillow (8-2, 1-0) scored four runs in the first, five in the second and two in the third. Rice went four innings, striking out six batters.
The Lady Mustangs collected nine hits. Rice had two singles, an RBI and scored two runs, and Neely Jordan had a double, two RBIs and scored two runs. Kylee Nix had an RBI double, and Jamie Shake had a double and scored one run.
Anna Flowers Hamrick had a single and scored a run, and Allie Beck, Addison Weems and Rivers Carroll had a single apiece.
Pillow plays at Bayou Wednesday.
Carroll Academy: The Lady Rebels improved to 2-0 in District 2-4A play with a 16-4 drubbing of Indianola Academy Monday in Indianola.
Carroll (6-4 overall) broke open a tight game after three innings with 12 runs in the final three innings. The Lady Rebels scored one run each in the first, third and fourth innings, two in the second, four in the fifth and six in the sixth. IA tallied one run each in the first and sixth innings and two in the second.
Peyton Perry got the win in the circle as she went all six innings, allowing four runs on 14 hits, striking out one.
Presley Woods had a banner day at the plate with a single and three doubles, scoring one run and driving in four. Helen Claire Cobb had three doubles, scored three runs and drove in a pair, and Mary Braxton Cobb had a single and double, scored twice and had an RBI.
Meri Brynn Reeves had two singles and scored two runs, and Perry had a double. Madison Whitfield had a single and scored twice, and McKenzie Reeves had three RBIs. Lexi McClain had a single, scored a run and an RBI, and Bella Carter had a single, two RBIs and scored two runs. Maggie Carter scored three runs.
Carroll, which played at Central Holmes Tuesday, entertains Winston Monday.
