Don’t miss “Daisy”
Went Friday night to “Driving Miss Daisy” at Greenwood Little Theatre. Can’t exaggerate how terrific the performance was. Saw the movie decades ago, and this stage production matches it for the quality of the acting and the range of emotions it evokes. Lots of laughter and even a few tears by the end,
I knew stage veterans Bobby Vandevender and Donna Bryant would be terrific. But the most pleasant surprise is the performance of Marcus Cooper as Hoke Colburn, the role made famous by Morgan Freeman. Marcus, the husband of Commonwealth Circulation Manager Shirley Cooper, even pulls off perfectly imitating to the voices of white Southern ladies.
The play has two matinée performances this weekend: 2 pm Saturday and Sunday at Davis Auditorium.
If you like good theater, you do not want to miss it.
