A Greenwood woman was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated domestic violence, accused of stabbing her boyfriend multiple times, Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said.
Banks said Nequaishia Lawrence, 32, was arrested after her boyfriend, Robert Stokes, was found in a ditch about 100 yards from his Grenada Boulevard residence.
Banks said officers recovered a knife and noted that Stokes had been stabbed multiple times. Stokes was taken to Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
The sheriff said one witness claimed that Lawrence had taken the weapon from Stokes and had acted in self-defense.
“She said she took the knife from him and started cutting him,” Banks said.
Banks said they could not extract much information from either party as both were “pretty intoxicated.”
Banks added that Stokes injuries were likely not life-threatening and he would be interviewed as the investigation incident continued.
