Village Fish and Steak is under new ownership, but owner Adam Gnemi said customers can expect the important quality that has always been the place’s appeal — a friendly staff.
Gnemi took over the restaurant about 11 weeks ago. He said business has been steady and he is happy with the way things are going.
“It’s a nice casual place where you can just sit down and make yourself at home,” Gnemi said.
The food, which he describes as “country,” is also available in a buffet. So far, his customers’ favorite has been the hamburger steak, but they also have enjoyed other meals that range across the menu, he said.
All menu items are made to order, he said: “It takes a minute longer, but it’s really worth it.”
He said the restaurant is a family-friendly establishment with average-priced food.
Gnemi also runs Fresh Laundry, a cleaner on Park Avenue. He used to work at the Flatland Grill, doing various tasks that he said have given him some experience in various aspects of the restaurant business.
He said that in choosing his location along U.S. 82 West, he found a place with a different crowd of people and a different type of atmosphere.
Gnemi said he has had about 75-100 customers per night since he started. However, he said he has also heard some rumors going around from people who have never been there.
“All I want is for those people to come down and give us a chance,” Gnemi said. “Give us a fair chance...Let us prove that the rumors aren’t true.”
Village Fish and Steak is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and open for lunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
