The Leflore County Board of Supervisors has approved the budget for a county website.
Ulysses Kelly, an independent contractor, was asked to bring prices and services for the board to consider.
At the supervisors’ June 8 meeting, a vote was postponed after District 2 Supervisor Reginald Moore, the board’s vice president, asked Kelly to bring a separate estimate of how much the site would be without a content management system. A content management company allows the county and each of its departments to edit the site as needed without any further cost from an outside party.
“When I researched the information you were looking for, Mr. Moore, I found out that there were very, very few companies that are still going with the old way of doing a website,” Kelly said. “Everyone is going to the content management system. I found one website that is doing the website by page basis, but they are soon going to be developing content management … but I brought their quote just so you can see that the county is definitely saving money.”
The company the board approved was Campus Suite. The site will cost $4,999 a year. There is also a content designer fee of $4,100 for Kelly, with a $1,500 yearly fee for maintenance. Kelly said the price he presented was the “absolute, bottom-line, lowest price I could find from any company that is developing websites using the content management system.”
After reviewing the requested prices, Moore moved to approve the new website, and the board voted 4-0 in favor. District 1 Supervisor Sam Abraham was absent.
Kelly said the process of creating the site will take six to eight weeks.
