GRENADA — A Hernando man was critically injured after running into the back of a stopped 18-wheeler Thursday on I-55 in Grenada.
The wreck happened just north of the Grenada exit at about 8:15 p.m., Trooper Tony Dunn said today.
Traffic was backed up because of another wreck the Highway Patrol was working to clean up at the Papermill exit two miles north.
George Ready II of Hernando, driving a GMC Sahara pickup, crashed into the trailer of a Sterling 18-wheeler driven by Shannon Carroll of Germantown, Tenn. Carroll was driving for UPS, Dunn said. Both trucks were northbound.
Ready was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Dunn said. His condition was not available this morning.
Carroll was not injured.
