A man reported to Greenwood police that he was robbed at gunpoint Sunday night by four men on East Washington Street.
Prentiss “Pete” Pernell, 21, of Cascilla told officers that four men took his wallet, cell phone and the keys to his truck, according to an incident report.
Pernell said he was sitting in his truck outside of the chiropractor’s office of his mother, Dr. Dorothey Pernell, at 408 E. Washington St. around 10:45 when four suspects wearing masks approached him. He said the men demanded money and a gun from him.
According to the report, Pernell was transported by ambulance to Greenwood Leflore Hospital due to injuries to his left leg and behind his left ear. The report states that Pernell told the officer he had consumed seven or eight beers.
A few witnesses nearby said they heard about four gunshots in the area around 10 p.m., the report said.
A 12-gauge shotgun shell was found lying in front of the office door where the incident took place. No other shell casings were found.
Pernell said he had a gun in his vehicle, but it was still located in the truck and was found unloaded.
According to the report, police have not identified any of the four suspects.
Police officials could not be reached for comment this morning. A person at the chiropractor’s office this morning said someone would be available for comment after noon today.
