A Greenwood man has been charged in a Monday armed robbery at the Triple Stop store on Moore Street.
Altorean “Boo” Williams, 20, was arrested Tuesday and remained jailed this morning.
According to a Greenwood Police Department incident report, a suspect entered the store carrying a gun and wearing a black ski mask, a black shirt and black pants.
Witnesses said the man shouted out a demand for all the money in the cash register while pointing the gun at the store employees and two customers.
None of the witnesses said they had seen the suspect before he entered the store.
Shakita Brister, a cashier at Triple Stop, told police she gave the suspect all the money in the register after he pointed the gun at her face. According to witness reports, the gun was equipped with a “laser beam.”
After reviewing the surveillance tapes, two employees identified the suspect as having similar physical gestures as a brother of a friend of Brister’s.
Police were told where Williams’ girlfriend, Tarkeshia Montgomery, lived. Her father, Jonathon Montgomery, told them Williams left his residence in an orange shirt and black pants and returned in a black shirt and black pants about 10 minutes later. He said when Williams returned, he was sweating and breathing heavily.
He said Williams came in, lay down on the couch and went to Tarkeshia’s bedroom before leaving the residence. She told police he worked at Greenwood Market Place and she was pregnant with his child.
When detectives looked into Williams’ vehicle, parked outside the Montgomery home, they found a handgun with a loaded magazine, a black ski mask and a pair of black pants. The handgun had a laser sight attached.
Store manager Clarissa Griffin told officers that $293 in cash had been taken.
