A Webb man was arrested on at least 11 charges Friday afternoon in Leflore County after attempting to evade an officer.
Deniro Scurrlock, 25, was arrested near Schlater after officers attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation.
“They tried to pull him over, and he started throwing dope out of the window at the bridge near Sunnyside School,” Sheriff Ricky Banks said.
After Scurrlock finally pulled over, he tried to flee on foot. An officer was able to catch him and take him down from behind. They both ended up in a ditch, Banks said.
Scurrlock claimed his wrist was injured during the arrest and was taken to the Greenwood-Leflore Hospital to have an X-ray examination. No serious injuries were discovered, Banks said.
Scurrlock’s shirt was bloody, and a deputy said Scurrlock had spit the blood onto it after he was arrested. The deputy said it appeared during the arrest Scurrlock may have bitten his lip.
Scurrlock was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, two counts of felony assault on an officer, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to comply, no seat belt, no turn signal, felony evasion, resisting arrest by struggling, disorderly conduct and driving without a license.
Scurrlock was in the Leflore County Jail Saturday afternoon.
