Frostys and four-sided burgers are coming back to Greenwood this weekend.
Wendy’s on Park Avenue, which has been closed for the past few weeks, will reopen in a new building on the same lot at 816 West Park.
Carlisle Corp. is the Memphis-based franchisee for Wendy’s.
Don Nichols, vice president of real estate for Carlisle, said the expansion is a result of seeing a potential for growth in Greenwood. “That is a commitment we made to a community that has been very good to us,” he said.
The new 3,400-square-foot location is about 20 percent larger than the old one. The dining area was built about 10 feet wider in hopes of greater sales volume.
According to a release from the Carlisle Corp., the new “Fresh E2000” design will offer free wireless Internet, flat screen television and a redesigned, modern kitchen. The release said a similar design was implemented in West Point and was received well by customers.
The store will be more environmentally friendly, with an updated landscape and more energy efficient.
Nichols said all the updates are about making a “greater dining experience” for the customer.
“About 65 to 70 percent of our business is through the pick-up window,” Nichols said. “But we really want people to come in and dine with us, too.”
This store will feature a larger landscape job than any other due to its larger size. According to the release, the company spends between $45,000 and $50,000 on landscaping costs alone.
“Those folks (who are driving through the pick-up window) need an experience, too,” Nichols said. “The outside is your doormat. It’s what people see first. The outside is as important as the inside.”
The inclusion of two bus parking stations will make large vehicle parking more manageable as well, Nichols said.
Nichols said the construction took a little longer than anticipated because of soil and other factors, but the company was ready to open.
“We are excited,” he said. “We think we will do very, very well there.”
The dining room is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The pick-up window is open 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
