An alleged burglar left a Cypress Avenue home emptyhanded after he turned on a light, alerting the residents sleeping inside to his presence.
The man got away after the Jan. 10 burglary in the 500 block of Cypress Avenue, but Greenwood police arrested Marcus Williams, 18, 1100 Yazoo St., Thursday.
He’s charged with burglary of a dwelling and was being held this morning at the Leflore County Jail.
Deputy Police Chief Johnny Langdon said the burglar entered through a bedroom window.
The residents were sleeping but awoke when the burglar turned on a bedroom light. He then fled without taking anything. Asked why the burglar turned on the light, Langdon said, “Probably to see to get something, I guess.”
