Greenwood Police Chief Henry Purnell wants all trick-or-treaters in the city to know that on Halloween night the city’s curfew ordinance will be enforced.
That means most juveniles should be off the streets by no later than 10:30 p.m.
The chief said that extra patrols will be in place Monday as well.
Purnell had the following suggestions for safe trick-or-treating:
• Trick-or-treat in familiar neighborhoods.
• Older children should be accompanied by friends and younger children should be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
• Do not accept rides from strangers.
• Parents and children need to wear light or reflective clothing at night.
• Parents should inspect all candy at the end of the night to ensure that it has not been tampered with.
