Greenwood police picked up two people, ages 17 and 18, over the weekend in connection with a Thursday night shooting that left a 16-year-old with a wound to his arm.
Dedderick Holland, 17, 211½ E. Percy St., will likely be charged today, according to Greenwood Police Chief Henry Purnell. Once he is formally charged, bond can be set, the chief said.
In an earlier report, police gave the Commonwealth an incorrect name spelling and age for Holland.
A second suspect is being held for investigation.
The shooting happened around 11:25 p.m. Thursday near Double Quick at 701 Main St. Both the victim and a 16-year-old witness identified Holland as the one who had fired.
The victim was treated and released from Greenwood Leflore Hospital on Friday.
Purnell thanked the public for helping with the apprehension of Holland and praised his officers for their hard work.
“Greenwood is safe; we’re going to try to keep it safe,” the chief said.
