CARROLLTON — Rita Sweatt will present “At the Feet of Jesus” Sept. 8 at the 2012 Women’s Conference at Carrollton Baptist Church.
Sweatt is a soloist and speaker who is married to Dr. Lloyd Sweatt, pastor of Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory.
She will perform a monologue that tells the story of Mary of Bethany. According to the Gospel of Luke, Mary was chastised by her sister Martha for not helping when Jesus was a guest in their home. Jesus rebuked Martha, telling her that Mary had chosen “the better part” by listening to him.
Sweatt’s monologue, which is performed in costume, is based on Scripture and research. The monolgue examines what it meant to Mary to sit at the feet of Jesus and her him teach, and what it means to modern Christians.
Pre-registration is requested so that everyone can have lunch. Send a check for $15 payable to Carrollton Baptist Women on Mission with your name, address, phone number and e-mail, if applicable, to Rebecca Lancaster, P.O. Box 224, Carrollton, MS 38917 by Sunday.
