A Greenwood man, on probation for a 2000 manslaughter conviction, has been charged with raping a 74-year-old woman.
Daniel Rollings, 37, 3004 Twin Lakes Blvd., Apt. 6C, remained in the Leflore County Jail this morning. He also has been charged with burglary of the alleged victim’s home, which is located in the Buckeye Community.
According to Ken Spencer, chief investigator with the Leflore County Sheriff’s Department, the victim came home shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday and found Rollings already inside the house.
Following the attack, the victim contacted authorities and identified her attacker by name, Spencer said.
Deputies unsuccessfully searched Tuesday night for Rollings.
On Wednesday, a deputy received a call from someone indicating that Rollings was over at the Brazil Homes subdivision. When deputies went there, they quickly found Rollings.
Rollings was convicted of manslaughter in Montgomery County in 2000, according to Spencer.
Rollings is being held while the Mississippi Department of Corrections goes to court and gets him remanded into state custody, Spencer said.
He said Rollings could face additional charges in Tuesday’s case.
