TCHULA — Holmes County authorities say they know nothing about a homicide reported last week in a profane Facebook posting attributed to Tchula’s police chief.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said this morning he was not aware of any homicide occurring last Thursday in Tchula. He also checked with the Tchula Police Department.
Holmes County Coroner Dexter Howard said he also was unaware of any homicide in Tchula last week.
According to the Facebook page of the Tchula Police Department, the post was made at 11:03 p.m. Thursday by Tchula Police Chief Kenneth Hampton.
The social media tirade used a combination of tough-talking bravado and profane references.
“I GOT A MESSAGE FOR A MURDERER!!!!” the post begins.
“Do you really think you can commit MURDER in Tchula Mississippi and get away with it? ... You’ll never see the light of day, who the f*** do you think you’re f***ing with? I’m the Chief of police, King Kong ain’t got s*** on me!!!”
Attempts to reach Hampton this morning for comment were unsuccessful. According to a dispatcher at the Police Department, Hampton was expected to be in court for much of the day.
Other earlier Facebook posts attributed to Hampton included similar language.
In posts that appeared June 11 and June 15, Hampton encouraged criminals to turn themselves in or pick one of two alternatives:
“Option A: Move to the moon.
“Option B: Build your nest in a Eagles A** and hope he never has to s***!!”
Mayor Zula Patterson also could not be reached.
