New mayor fires three city department heads

Mayor Kenderick Cox has fired Police Chief Terrence Craft, Fire Chief Marcus Banks and Public Works Director Susan Bailey.
Cox explained his decision after Tuesday’s City Council meeting, which was his first as mayor.

Teen charged with murder

An Itta Bena teenager has been charged with murder.
Cordarius Pitts, 16, was arrested Thursday and booked into the Leflore County Jail. He was released on $50,000 bond Friday.
The arrest was made by the Itta Bena Police Department. Police Chief James Stonewall declined to identify who Pitts is alleged to have killed.
