Beloved cook gave others joy

Steven Goodwin was known for his skill at cooking barbecue, but those who knew him said he loved people even more.
Mr. Goodwin died early Wednesday morning of what is believed to be a heart attack. He was 69.

GHS student, 15, dies after shooting

A Greenwood High School student died from a gunshot wound to the head Monday night.
Leflore County Coroner Debra Sanders said she received a call about a shooting on the 400 block of East McLaurin Street around 8:50 p.m. Monday.

3 injured after drive-by shooting

Three people, including a 2-year-old child, were injured in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said officers received a call at 6:30 p.m. about shots being fired on the 100 block of Dionyse Street.
Officers arrived at 107 Dionyse St. and discovered three victims of gunshots.

Second man charged in shooting

A second man has been charged in a shooting on U.S. 82 last month that left one dead and another injured.
Police Chief Terrence Craft said Cordarrius Harvey, 22, 810 Ave. D, was being held Wednesday in the Leflore County Jail. Harvey has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
