Council approves nominee for city clerk

Greenwood has a new city clerk.
The Greenwood City Council voted 6-1 Tuesday afternoon to approve Mayor Kenderick Cox’s recommendation of Carla Williams to the position. Ward 2’s Lisa Cookston cast the lone dissenting vote.

Simon elevated to chief from interim

Serafin Simon Jr. is now chief of police for the city of Greenwood.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the City Council voted 5-1 to drop the interim tag after amending the agenda to consider a resolution making him the permanent chief.
