Juvenile detention site temporarily defunded

After months of deliberation, the Leflore County Board of Supervisors has approved temporarily defunding the operations of the county’s juvenile detention center in order to complete building renovations.

Leflore County jobless rate down to 6.5%

Leflore County’s unemployment rate fell to 6.5% in August, according to figures released Tuesday by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
The rate was lower than July’s 7.1% figure but higher than the August 2024 rate of 5.3%.
The jobless rate normally improves in August as school resumes.
