Family of 4 rescued from fire by firefighters, neighbor

A family of four were rescued by Greenwood firefighters and a neighbor from a house fire that occurred early Wednesday morning.
The Fire Department’s B shift responded to a call about a house fire on the 300 block of West Adams Avenue at 3:26 a.m. Wednesday.

Man pleads guilty in fatal 2024 shooting of girlfriend

A Greenwood man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the January 2024 killing of his girlfriend.
Lavorris Gilbert pleaded guilty in the death of Jessica McClain on Aug. 18 before Circuit Judge Ashley Hines, according to a release from the District Attorney’s Office of the Fourth District.

Accused ex-GPD officer was let go by Ruleville PD
