The Itta Bena mayor’s race is still too close to call after affidavit ballots were tallied Wednesday at the Leflore County Courthouse.
Dr. Mary Tyes-Williams, 54, remains in the lead to become the next mayor of Itta Bena.

Services for X’Zavion Howard of Greenwood will be at noon Saturday at Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Howard, 20, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Rev. Willie Smith will officiate at the services.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
