Delta Devils hope to take down Hornets

The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University and the Hornets of Alabama State University collide Saturday in the Port City Classic in Mobile.
The Hornets are tied for first place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s East Division with Jackson State at 7-2 overall and 5-1 in league play.

2026 hall class loaded with talent

Charles Cooley has announced that the Future Champions Greenwood Leflore Sports Hall of Fame ceremony will be held July 11 at the Andrew McQueen Jr. Civic Center.
The ceremony will start at 1 p.m.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
