The Pillow Academy girls track team, led by freshman Addison Weems, claimed the North 5A meet Saturday at Bayou Academy in Cleveland.
The Lady Mustangs finished with 70 points while second-place Simpson had 58 points. Bayou came in third with 49 points, and East Rankin was fourth with 35 points. Washington School placed fifth with 30 points, and Park Place Christian Academy was sixth with 19 points.
Weems won the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.74 and 25.92, respectively. She broke Bayou’s track record in the 100, and she set a new North State record in the 200.
Also, Weems helped the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams set new North State records. Weems, Madison Barlow, Kaley Harden and Allie Beck won the 4x100 in 52.38, and Weems, Barlow, Edi-Ann Mitchell and Beck won the 4x200 in 1:49.87. In the 4x400, Weems, Beck, Mitchell and Harden won the event in 4:25.29.
The top four in each event advance to the State 5A meet Friday and Saturday at JA and Jackson Prep. The field events will be held Friday at JA, and the running events will be Saturday at Prep.

The Pillow boys qualified for the state meet in three events. They finished North 5A with 10 team points, placing them ninth in the 10-team field.
