Carroll Academy completed a sweep of District 2-4A foe Central Holmes Christian School with a 15-0 three-inning win Tuesday.
Carroll (10-7 overall, 6-2 in district) plated four runs in the first, five in the second and six in the third. The Rebels took a pair of games from the Trojans Monday.
Maddox Carpenter started on the mound to get the win, improving to 2-0. He worked one inning, allowing one hit and fanning one. Ethan Mims went the next two innings, walking one and striking out two.
Carroll was led by Reid Blaylock, who had two singles, drove in five runs and scored once. Lofton Holly had a double, three RBIs and scored twice, and Tanner Costilow had a single, two RBIs and scored one run.
Tyler Brooks had a double and scored three times, and Carpenter had a single, RBI and scored three runs. Logan had two singles, an RBI and scored three runs, and Drew Thomas had two singles and an RBI. Mims chipped in a single and scored twice.
Carroll is slated to host Winona Christian Monday at 4 p.m. for a conference doubleheader.
- Pillow Academy: The Mustangs were only able to get in one game of their doubleheader at Magnolia Heights School Tuesday in Senatobia before the rains hit.
The Chiefs took Game 1 from Pillow 11-1 by scoring two runs each in the first and fifth innings, six in the third and one in the fourth. The Mustangs, who fall to 7-16 overall and 1-9 in District 1-5A, tallied their only run in the third.
Elliott Flowers (0-1) took the loss as he went two-plus innings, allowing four runs on three hits, walking two and striking out one.
Trace Schmitz got two outs in the third, surrendering four runs (all earned) on two hits, walking two. John Heston Powers went 11/3 innings, giving up one run on two hits, walking two. Jack Kirk got two outs in the fifth before the game ended by the 10-run rule. He allowed two runs on one hit, walking two.
Nelson Hodges had an RBI double, and Drew Lamb had a single. Tate DuBard scored the only run.
The second game was called in the bottom of the second with the Chiefs in front 1-0.
Pillow and Magnolia Heights will complete that game Monday starting at 1 p.m. at Coleman Field in Utroska Park. Following that contest, Game 3 of the series will be played.
Pillow is scheduled to visit Lee Academy Saturday with the junior varsity starting at noon and the varsity game to follow.
- Leflore County: The Tigers forfeited their game with Bruce High School Tuesday after the weather forced the game to be canceled.
Leflore (2-10 overall, 2-7 in Region 2-2A) is slated to hosts Potts Camp Thursday, weather permitting.
