Carroll Academy junior Ryan Logan drove in seven runs in leading the Rebels to an 18-2 victory over District 2-4A foe St. Joseph High School in the second game of a doubleheader against the Irish Tuesday in Greenville.
Logan, who played third base in Game 2, was 4-for-4, which included two singles and two doubles. He scored one run.
Carroll plated four runs in the first inning, two in the second, five in the third and seven in the fourth. St. Joe scored one run each in the first and third frames.
Lofton Holly had three singles, scored four runs and drove in three runs. Reid Blaylock had two singles and a triple, drove in two runs and scored four times, while Maddox Carpenter had a single, RBI and scored three runs.
Drew Thomas had a double, two RBIs and scored a run, and Tanner Costilow and Ethan Mims had a double and single, respectively. Mims scored twice, and Costilow crossed home once. Tyler Brooks scored two runs and had an RBI.
Thomas (1-1) got the win as he went four innings, yielding both runs on three hits, walking two and fanning four.
In the first game, the Rebels had to battle to end as they prevailed 7-3. Carroll scored two runs each in the third and sixth frames, and lone run each in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. St. Joe scored three runs in the fourth.
Logan (1-2) went five innings to get the win. He allowed all three runs (all earned) on six hits, walking one and striking out five. Mims went the final two innings, walking two, allowing one hit and fanning four.
Holly had two doubles and scored two runs, and Costilow had two singles and scored one run. Logan drove in three runs with a single, and Carpenter had a double and two RBIs.
Brooks had a single, RBI and scored twice, and Blaylock had a single and scored once. Thomas had a single.
Carroll (6-5, 2-0) entertains St. Joe for a single game Friday at 6 p.m.
- Pillow Academy: The Mustangs dropped to 6-11 overall and 0-4 in District 1-5A play with a 7-3 loss to visiting Starkville Tuesday at Coleman Field in Utroska Park.
Starkville scored two runs each in the first, third and fourth frames, and one in the seventh. Pillow scored twice in the second and once in the fifth.
Drew Lamb (0-6) took the loss on the mound. He yielded all seven runs in 62/3 innings of work, giving up seven hits, walking one and fanning four. Brock Makamson got the final out.
Makamson had a single and double, and Nelson Hodges had two singles and two RBIs. Chamberlain McClain had a single and scored once, and Trace Schmitz had a single and RBI. JC Garrard had a single, and Elliott Flowers scored one run.
Pillow and Starkville are slated to play a doubleheader Thursday in Starkville.
- J.Z. George: The Jaguars could only muster two hits in a 13-2 loss at Region 2-2A foe Potts Camp on Tuesday.
Potts Camp scored two runs in the first, one in the second, and five runs each in the fourth and fifth innings. J.Z. George scored once in the third.
Brandon McKenzie (3-3) took the loss, walking two and fanning two. Dylan Nobles scored the only run, and McKenzie and Alan Busby had a single each.
J.Z. George (3-7, 0-5) entertains Potts Camp Friday at 6 p.m.
