Gary apparent winner of circuit clerk runoff

Johnny Gary Jr. is the apparent winner of Tuesday’s runoff election for Leflore County circuit clerk.
Gary, who has served as interim clerk since May, has received 1972 votes, or 52.3%, to Jackie Cooper Lewis’ 1,795, or 47.7%.
“To God be the glory,” Gary said in reaction to his presumed victory.

The election precinct at American Legion Post 29 is ready to go for Tuesday’s runoff election. A runoff election Tuesday will determine Leflore County’s circuit clerk for the next three years, and that will be either Johnny Gary Jr. or Jackie Lewis.
Both are confident in their chances.
