Gary certified as winner of circuit clerk race

Johnny Gary Jr.’s victory in the runoff election for Leflore County circuit clerk was officially certified Friday afternoon.
That kicks off a tight schedule for Gary’s opponent, Jackie Cooper Lewis, who said Friday she was still deciding whether to inspect the ballot boxes and potentially contest the election.

Official: Determining winner of court race will take days

The winner of Tuesday’s runoff election between Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Jim Kitchens and Jenifer Branning likely won’t be declared until next week, according to an official with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office.
