Jordan running for Senate seat again

State Sen. David Jordan says he’s not done yet and will run for reelection.
The 89-year-old legislator said Monday that he feels ready for another run.
Jordan has represented District 24 in the Senate since 1993. He also served for 36 years on the Greenwood City Council and worked as a teacher for three decades.

3rd candidate joins District 4 supervisor race

A third candidate has qualified to enter the race for Leflore County District 4 supervisor.
Jason Doyle of Itta Bena is running as an independent.
The incumbent, Eric Mitchell, is running in the Democratic primary and will be challenged by Wayne Self, a former supervisor. The primary is scheduled for Aug. 8.

Mitchell, Self to face off again

Wayne Self wants to get back on the Leflore County Board of Supervisors.
To do so, he will have to defeat the supervisor who unseated him in 2019, Eric Mitchell. The close race four years ago resulted in a court challenge, but Mitchell emerged victorious.

State Sen. David Jordan says he is still contemplating whether he will run for another term.
Should he choose to run again, he will have a challenger.
Curressia Brown, 57, of Greenwood, is a retired Mississippi Valley State University administrator. She announced her candidacy Friday. She will be running as an independent.
