After five change orders, the last payment was approved for the Leflore County Justice Center Monday at the Leflore County Board of Supervisors' meeting.
Law enforcement officials were supposed to have moved into the building by Jan. 30 but were prevented due to problems with the size of the Emergency 911 equipment room, a generator, indoor sprinkler system and the addition of magnetic locks.
Also at the meeting, adjustments to the Leflore County Solid Waste Department were presented by Jinny Hoyt. Adjustments were $1,007.87, and charges were $1,032.89.
Hoyt said the department was doing well financially due to the policy of "holding car tags" for those who do not pay.
Speed bumps in the Ridgeland Road community and in Glendale were discussed.
In a letter from board attorney Willie Perkins, who was not present, it was confirmed that the county has authority to place speed bumps on county roads if deemed necessary for the health and safety of citizens.
However, the county may not place speed bumps on a road without giving adequate notice to travelers, and the bumps must not constitute a dangerous device or obstruction, the letter said.
The board gave county road manager Lennon Powell permission to purchase speed breakers. It also approved a motion to begin advertising the new speed bumps.
