A Greenwood man remained in jail this morning after being accused of kidnapping his girlfriend, tying her up in an abandoned house and assaulting her.
Rickey Adams, 27, of 204 Vardaman St., was arrested Monday and officially charged Thursday with aggravated assault and domestic violence and felony kidnapping. Bond had not been set this morning.
Adams is accused of forcing his girlfriend away from her residence on Henderson Street and taking her to an abandoned house on 412 W. Scott St., said Deputy Police Chief Huntley Nevels. Once at the house, Adams allegedly tied her up and assaulted her, Nevels said.
Later, Adams took her to his mother's house on Vardaman Street, kept her there for a while and assaulted her again, Nevels said. "He also threw some railroad spikes into her leg, and after that he took her back to her residence," Nevels said. "She waited until he fell asleep, and then she used her cell phone to call for help."
The incidents took place between 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday.
Nevels would not provide the name of the girlfriend but said she is 32 years old.
