FedEx to invest $500K in MVSU program

For those who frequented Larry’s Fish House, the presence of the hospitable Larry Kelly was a constant highlight of the restaurant.
“He made you feel as if you were the only customer. It was that way every time I came,” said Samantha Milton, a Greenwood resident who has routinely visited Larry’s Fish House for more than two decades.

The Night to Shine prom for special-needs adults was held Friday at North Greenwood Baptist Church. The gathering, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, attracted more than 200 guests and buddies who were joined by other volunteers, caregivers and parents.

2 Nashville musicians will perform Tuesday

A pair of Nashville musicians will kick off the Hush Puppy Music Co-Op’s first show of 2026.
Paul Burch and Fats Kaplin will perform Tuesday both separately and together. Special guest Kristi Rose will also join the duo on stage. The concert will be at 7 p.m., at Old City Hall, 121 Main St.

Local news matters to Greenwood. It keeps the people informed and connected. It asks the questions they want answered. It elevates what’s good, and it exposes what’s not.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
