Mississippi Delta Community College’s football team will have its hands full Thursday as the Trojans entertain the Bobcats of Jones Community College.
Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Moorhead.
The Trojans have struggled this season as they are 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the MACCC’s North Division. MDCC has been outscored 260-30 in its seven games. They close out the season on Oct. 27 at home against East Mississippi.
Jones is 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the South Division. The Bobcats, who have clinched a spot in the four-team junior college playoffs, have outscored their opponents 221-96.
Jones has several players on its roster with Greenwood ties. Freshman DeAndre “DJ” Smith, who played his last two years at Greenville Christian School, was a member of the Greenwood High team as a freshman and sophomore. For the Bobcats, he has completed 32-of-57 passes for 456 yards and five touchdowns in a backup role. He has run for 203 yards on 27 carries.
Jones has two Greenwood residents on the defensive side of the ball — Travor Randle and JD Stewart.
Randle, a sophomore defensive back, has 19 solo tackles and 17 assists, two quarterback sacks, 51/2 tackles for loss, one interception and a fumble recovery. Stewart, a freshman linebacker, has seven solos and four assists.

Kerrick Ross, who finished his school playing days at Greenville Christian but started at Leflore County, had two kickoff returns for 61 yards against MDCC last week.
Dekari “Turbo” Johnson, who led Leflore to the State 2A championship game last season, is a freshman wide receiver. In last week’s win over Mississippi Delta, he had four catches for 61 yards.
At Gulf Coast Community College, former Greenwood High defensive lineman Davin Anderson has 10 solo stops and eight assists, two quarterback sacks and two tackles for loss.
At South Alabama, Chris “CJ” Rias, a junior linebacker from J.Z. George, has 14 solos and four assists, three tackles for loss, two sacks, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble for the Jaguars.
At Central Arkansas, former Greenwood High standout Jalen Bedell, a senior defensive lineman, has six solos and eight assists on the season for the Bears.
At Mississippi Valley, former Amanda Elzy Panther Dephabian Fant, a freshman running back, has 41 yards rushing on 12 carries for the Delta Devils.
