The trash problem in Greenwood is getting more ridiculous by the day. It pains my heart to when riding around my hometown to see piles of trash everywhere I look. I have tried on many occasions to show initiative and pick up trash on my street, only to return and find more trash than when I started. City and County leaders give lip service to the problem, and so far their feeble attempts have produced no real results. I challenge all residents of Greenwood to have some pride in their community and make every effort to keep this town as clean as possible. I have worked with District 2 Supervisor Reginald Moore, who seems to be one of the few lawmakers who actually gives a hoot about this problem, but so far our efforts have produced little change. I will continue to encourage our citizens to take responsibility and clean up Greenwood. I call for all of Greenwood elected officials to place an emphasis on cleaning up our beloved city. If there are laws on the books against littering, I call on the chief of police and the county sheriff to instruct all officers to enforce these laws when they see citizens trashing our wonderful town. This is a poor area with lots of problems, but being trashy and nasty doesn't have to be one of them.
