Brass quintet from MSU will perform Thursday

Several domestic arrests for kidnap suspect

State fund, city would contribute $10K each for building renovation study

The Mississippi Historic Preservation Fund would grant $10,000 and the city of Greenwood would provide a $10,000 match for a feasibility study on renovation of two historic Greenwood buildings for use by Leflore Legacy Academy if an application for the grant is successful.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
