Camp gives Valley some shine, helps showcase local talent to colleges

At the end of each session, Valley coach Kendrick Wade gathered the participants of Valley’s first-ever mega camp into a giant group
All of the athletes took a knee around the coach, taking time to listen and catch their breath.

Valley to host first mega camp

The 2023 football season doesn’t begin for Valley until September 2, but activities in the sport are beginning to heat up on campus.
On Wednesday, numerous players, local and distant, will flock to Itta Bena to participate in the first-ever Mississippi Valley State University Mega Camp being held at Rice-Totten Stadium.

Commentary: Butler, Murray are players to watch in Finals

One of my favorite championships are upon us.
The NBA Finals.
On Monday night, the Miami Heat routed the Boston Celtics 103-84, becoming the second-ever 8th seed to reach the NBA Finals.
The only other team to accomplish that feat was the New York Knicks in the 1999 season.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
