Mustangs rumble past Colts, 24-21

Behind six different ball carriers, Pillow Academy’s offense rumbled for 387 yards and a 24-21 win over visiting Lee Academy Friday night.
The Mustangs gutted through a game that had three lead changes, and managed to get two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put away the surging Colts.

SEASON PREVIEW: New faces, yet goal is the same for Pillow Academy

Last year, Pillow Academy fell in the second round of the MAIS Class 5A playoffs with a 48-24 loss to Heritage Academy, ending a hopeful run by a large group of seniors that accounted for much of the Mustangs’ offensive and defensive production.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
