Valley leaving win in past, focusing on JSU

Fresh off their first win of the season, the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State turn their attention to the incoming Tigers of Jackson State University.
Gone are the cheers and joyful echos of last Saturday’s 42-17 homecoming victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and returned is the laser focus the helped Valley win.

Bulldogs must win to get into postseason

The Greenwood High School Bulldogs are in a position that coach Clinton Gatewood hasn’t been in many times during his 13 years of leading the program.
Greenwood is 1-7 overall and 0-2 in Region 3-4A and is on the verge of missing the playoffs for only the second time in Gatewood’s tenure.

PA, CA wrap up regular season

Pillow Academy and Carroll Academy finished out the cross-country regular season Saturday by competing in the Watson High School Cross-Country Classic in Clinton.
The 97 participating schools were separated into four different divisions. PA and Carroll both ran in the Blue division.

To do that work well takes skilled reporters and editors, as many as a community can support through advertising, subscriptions and philanthropy.

The Greenwood Commonwealth expanded its newsroom in 2025 by adding Gerard Edic as a reporter covering public safety and other stories of interest to the community.

His position is partially funded by a two-year grant from Report for America, a national nonprofit. Generous supporters in the community donated the matching funds in the first year. We are now raising funds for Year 2.
