Several from Greenwood to appear in film

Several people from Greenwood will be featured in the credits for “MK Ultra,” a film about CIA operations in Mississippi in the 1950s and ’60s.
Toy Longstreet Jr., who films local events for The Taxpayers Channel, was working as a driver for the movie when the director asked him if he would like to be in it.

Supervisors OK budget, tax increase

The Leflore County Board of Supervisors has approved next year’s budget, which includes an increase of more than 4% on local taxes to fund the county’s operations.
By a 2-1 vote Monday, the board approved the budget for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board: Moore unopposed; 3 running in District 3

Four people have qualified for the elections for the District 2 and District 3 seats on the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School Board.
In District 2, only incumbent Kalanya Moore submitted the required paperwork to run. District 3 incumbent Samantha Milton will face Anglean Wardell and Henry Fant.

Four Leflore County residents now have submitted qualifying paperwork to run for the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated District School Board.
Henry Fant has filed to run in District 3, joining incumbent Samantha Milton and another challenger, Anglean Wardell. Dr. Kalanya Moore, the District 2 incumbent, is currently unopposed.
